2. Preventing "Guillotine" Trunk Lids (Aging torsion bars)
Scenario: An older sedan's torsion bars have weakened — the trunk stays up for 2 seconds, then crashes down on your head or hands.
Use: Electric struts (with self-locking motors) hold the lid open firmly at any angle, even on a steep hill. No sudden drops, no smashed fingers, no crushed birthday cake.
3. Low Headroom / Modified Cars (Low Parking & Lowered Suspension)
Scenario: You park in a low garage, or you've lowered your sedan (bagged/coilovers). The trunk hits the ceiling or your aftermarket spoiler.
Use: Program the electric struts to open to only 1.3 meters (e.g., 80% height) instead of full. The lid stops automatically, avoiding damage. Close via remote without reaching up.

Technical Note for Sedans
Unlike SUVs (which use external gas springs), sedans use internal torsion bars. Retrofitting electric struts usually requires removing or disabling the torsion bars. Use light-duty electric struts (200–400N) — sedan trunk lids are much lighter than liftgates. Ensure the system includes soft-close (sedan trunks slam loudly if uncontrolled).
