Cummins engine filter elements are crucial for maintaining engine performance and longevity. They include the following components:
1. Air Filter
Function: Blocks dust particles, ensuring smooth air intake for optimal engine performance in both low and high-temperature environments.
Maintenance:
Only the external filter element can be purged; the safety filter element should not be purged.
Purging air pressure should be below 0.5 MPa.
Replace the safety filter element after three purging cycles.
2. Oil Filter
Function: Removes impurities from the oil, ensuring the engine operates smoothly.
Features: High filtration accuracy, low flow resistance, and long service life.
Replacement Steps:
Clean the area around the oil filter seat.
Discard the old filter element and O-ring seal after removal.
Install the new filter with clean oil and tighten according to the specified torque.
3. Fuel Filter
Function: Ensures fuel purity and improves combustion efficiency.
Replacement Steps:
Remove and discard the old filter element and O-ring in a clean area, away from flammable materials.
Avoid pre-injecting fuel into the new filter element.
Lubricate the new O-ring with clean oil before installation and tighten according to technical specifications.
4. Oil-Water Separator
Function: Effectively separates oil and water in the fuel, protecting the engine from damage.
Maintenance:
Discharge water and sediment from the fuel filter and oil-water separator daily.
Replace regularly according to the maintenance cycle for Cummins models.
5. Water Filter
Function: Purifies the water quality in the cooling system and slowly releases granular DCA for added protection.
Benefits: Prevents scale formation, ensuring the cooling system operates normally.
Replacement: Should be replaced each time the antifreeze is maintained or changed.
