Silicone gel is a type of silicone rubber characterized by a network structure formed by cross-linked polymeric compounds. It is insoluble in water and inorganic acids, yet soluble in hydrofluoric acid and concentrated sodium hydroxide solutions. This reaction generates no byproducts, and the material undergoes no shrinkage during the curing process.
