1. Description of Platinum Silicone Rubber
Platinum-cured liquid silicone rubber (a two-component, addition-curing system) with a hardness of 40 (Shore A) is typically used to fabricate molds for industrial and artisanal applications. Characterized by its high hardness, extremely low shrinkage rate (≤0.1%), high-temperature resistance (200–250°C), and eco-friendly, non-toxic nature (meeting food and medical-grade standards), this material is ideal for creating molds that require high rigidity, exceptional dimensional precision, relatively simple structural designs, and resistance to deformation under pressure or high temperatures.

Molding for Large or Heavy Products (Architectural/Decorative Grade)—Molds for Large Cement Components and Artificial Cultural Stone: Materials such as cement and concrete are inherently very heavy. If low-hardness silicones (e.g., 20-shore hardness) are used, the mold may sag or deform under the compressive force of gravity. A 40-shore hardness silicone, however, is capable of maintaining its precise geometric shape even under heavy loads. Molds for Large Plaster and Sandstone Reliefs: Suitable for flat or large-scale three-dimensional components—measuring over 50 cm—that feature patterns of moderate complexity, utilizing a multi-piece brush-on molding technique.
Molds for High-Gloss, High-Precision Resin Products—High-Transparency, Mirror-Finish Resin Molds: When utilizing a 40-shore hardness, high-transparency platinum-cure silicone, the material is frequently employed for casting epoxy resins (e.g., for large "river tables," decorative ornaments, and similar craft items). Its high rigidity allows for the precise definition of mold parting lines, while its excellent self-releasing properties ensure that the resulting resin surface achieves a mirror-like or high-gloss finish, remaining resistant to hazing.
