Bearing Bore Precision: Concentricity between input/output bores within 0.01mm. Bore roundness within 0.005mm. Achieved through single-setup boring on 4-axis CNC or precision jig boring with CMM verification.
Mating Surface Flatness: 0.02mm or better on sealing faces. Machined as the final operation to prevent clamping-induced distortion, verified with CMM surface flatness scanning.
Integrated Mounting Features: Tapped holes, dowel pin holes, and mounting bosses machined in the same setup as bores. Position tolerance within 0.05mm relative to datum A-B.
Material Options: Al 6061-T6 (general industrial), Al 7075-T6 (high-strength applications), Al 5052-H32 (marine/corrosive environments). All materials include certification.
Sealing Surface Finish: Ra 1.6 or better on all sealing faces. Achieved with finishing passes using sharp inserts for reliable long-term sealing performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you hit 0.01mm concentricity between two bearing bores?
Yes, but only if we can machine both bores in a single setup. For bores on opposite sides, we recommend 4th-axis setup or manual boring bar for final sizing to maintain precision.
Al 6061 or Al 7075 for a robot gearbox housing?
For most robot joint gearboxes, 7075 is recommended due to its 40% higher yield strength. Use 6061 for cost savings or very large housings where 7075 becomes cost-prohibitive.
Do you hard anodize the bore surfaces?
We typically don't recommend hard anodizing bearing bores as it changes diameter and surface finish. For bearing seats, precise sizing for bearing fit is preferred, with hard anodizing applied to external surfaces.
What's the lead time for a prototype gearbox housing?
3-7 days from drawing approval. Material availability is verified before schedule commitment to ensure timely delivery.
Can you make a gearbox housing from stainless steel?
Yes, we machine SS 304, SS 316, and 17-4 PH for corrosive or high-strength applications. Aluminum remains preferred for most industrial applications due to weight and machining efficiency.
Do you provide assembly services for the gearbox?
We offer sub-assembly services including bearing pressing, shaft installation, and seal fitting. Full gearbox assembly depends on complexity and can be discussed based on requirements.
