What Are Epoxy-Coated Metal Cable Ties?

The epoxy-coated metal cable ties (also known as epoxy-coated stainless steel cable ties) are metal fasteners made from stainless steel and covered with a protective epoxy resin coating applied via electrostatic powder spraying and high-temperature curing. The epoxy resin crosslinks into a rigid, thermoset protective layer firmly bonded to the steel surface. They are designed to bundle, secure, and organize cables, wires, hoses, and other components in corrosive environments.

304, 316 or 316L stainless steel is used as the base material with a black epoxy resin coating over the stainless steel strap. A ball-lock mechanism secures the cable tie after installation, creating a strong, permanent fastening that cannot be released by the user under normal conditions.

The stainless steel material provides mechanical strength and corrosion resistance, while the epoxy coating adds a protective surface, helps reduce direct metal contact with bundled cables, and provides additional resistance to environmental exposure.

3. What Features & Properties Do They Have?

1. Corrosion resistance
The dense epoxy barrier provides excellent protection against salt spray, dilute acids, alkalis and most mineral oils. It isolates the stainless steel from corrosive media.

2. Temperature performance
Continuous operating temperature: -40 °C to +110 °C; short-term peak temperature up to 130 °C. The coating will not melt under heat, only degrade gradually if exceeding the rated long-term temperature.

3. Mechanical & coating
The epoxy coating is thin (around 60–100 μm), hard and smooth with high abrasion resistance. It has high rigidity, so the coating tends to crack or peel off under repeated sharp bending.

4. Electrical insulation
Offers good insulation to prevent accidental short circuits and separate dissimilar metals to avoid galvanic corrosion.

5. Weathering limitation
Poor UV resistance. Long-term outdoor exposure causes chalking, fading and coating degradation; not suitable for continuous sun exposure.

6. Flame retardancy
Custom formulations can reach UL94 V-0 flame rating. It is halogen-free in standard industrial grades.

Designed with metallic self-locking ball-bearing head, the natural stainless steel buckle contrasts with the black-coated metal strap, making it instantly distinguishable from black plastic cable ties.

Used to secure electrical cables, wiring harnesses, and control-system cables in trains and related infrastructure. Coated edges help reduce damage to cable insulation, while metal construction supports demanding operating conditions.

2. Marine and Shipbuilding
Used for cable routing and fastening in ship compartments, engine rooms, and related marine installations. Stainless steel grade selection is important in saltwater environments, particularly where chloride exposure is significant.

3. Oil and Gas Industry
Used to organize electrical, instrumentation, and control cables on offshore platforms and industrial facilities. The required material grade, coating compatibility, and temperature rating should be matched to the actual operating environment.

4. Mining and Heavy Industry
Suitable for securing cables and protective tubing around machinery, structural steelwork, and industrial equipment where mechanical durability and environmental resistance are important.

5. Chemical and Process Industries
Used to fasten instrumentation cables, control wiring, and cable bundles around process equipment. The selected coating and stainless steel grade must be compatible with the chemicals present; epoxy coating alone does not guarantee resistance to every chemical.

6. Power, Electrical and Infrastructure Installations
Used in suitable electrical enclosures, cable trays, outdoor wiring systems, and industrial installations to organize and secure cable bundles. Product ratings must meet the requirements of the specific installation.
