Developed per IEC 60238:2016+A1:2017+A2:2020 Clauses 16.2, 16.4 and Figure 6, this torque testing equipment verifies the mechanical performance and service life of lamp holders.

Test Procedure
  1. Replacing Lamp Holder Gauge: Choose the matching gauge based on the lamp base type. Loosen the fixing screws on the device, take off the existing lamp holder gauge and install the new one for testing.
  2. Securing the Test Sample: Mount the lamp base onto the dedicated fixture. Loosen the fixture screws and adjust its vertical position to align the lamp holder gauge with the center of the lamp base. Once positioned correctly, tighten the screws to lock the fixture in place.
  3. Conducting the Test: Wrap the steel wire rope around the torque disc. If the lamp holder is assembled onto the lamp base via clockwise rotation, wrap the rope clockwise; otherwise, wrap it counterclockwise. Attach specified weights and apply torque continuously for 1 minute.
Standard Torque Values
  • 0.3 Nm for E5 lamp holders
  • 0.3 Nm for E10 lamp holders
  • 0.5 Nm for E14 candle lamp holders with threaded entry fixing
  • 1.2 Nm for E14 candle lamp holders with outer shell clamping
  • 1.2 Nm for other E14 lamp holders
  • 2 Nm for E27 lamp holders
  • 4 Nm for E40 lamp holders

Perform the test in two separate runs. First, clamp the sample by its outer casing. Second, secure it via the threaded inlet, dome or backplate, as applicable to the lamp holder design.

Upon completion of testing, the sample must not sustain any damage or defects that would affect its normal operation.
