What is Long Radius Elbow?
A SMLSLong Radius (LR) 90° elbow refers to an elbow with a bending radius of 1.5 times the nominal pipe diameter (1.5D). This gentle and gradual turning design can minimize pressure loss and turbulence when fluid passes through, and reduce erosion and corrosion of the pipe wall. Due to its superior hydraulic performance, long radius elbows are the default standard elbow type used in pipeline engineering, ensuring efficient and smooth fluid transport throughout the entire pipeline system.

The butt welding connection method provides the same strength and sealing as the pipeline, while WP304L material can cope with moderate corrosive environments. Manufacturing Process Flow of SMLSCO Fitting
SMLSCO butt welded elbows adopt rigorous process flow to ensure quality. Firstly, use certified seamless steel pipes as raw materials and carry out cutting. Subsequently, the pipe section was precisely shaped into a 90° bend through processes such as cold pressing and pushing. After forming, all elbows will enter the heat treatment furnace for solution annealing to restore the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the material that have changed due to cold processing. Finally, it can only be stored after surface pickling, end groove processing, and final inspection.
