Designed for Overhead Jib Crane Loading and Low-Clearance Facilities
When handling oversized, heavy industrial equipment like electrical transformers, traditional material handling systems often fall short.
For a recent major project exported to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, CoatTech engineered a highly specialized solution: a custom top-open industrial spray paint booth designed specifically to accommodate existing overhead jib cranes and strict facility height constraints.
The Engineering Challenge
Heavy transformer production lines require robust coating systems to ensure long-term weather resistance and insulation. However, moving massive transformers into a standard enclosed booth via ground transport or monorail is often impractical. For this specific facility in Saudi Arabia, the production requirements were demanding:
No Monorail Integration: The facility relied exclusively on overhead jib cranes for heavy lifting.
Height Constraints: The factory possessed a low ceiling clearance, preventing the use of standard high-roof heavy equipment booths.
Heavy Payload Loading: Transformers needed to be safely lowered directly into the painting zone from above.
The CoatTech Solution
To solve this, our engineering team designed a custom Top-Open Spray Booth System. By replacing the rigid ceiling with a reinforced,
retractable top-loading bay, operators can seamlessly lower transformers directly into the workspace using their existing jib crane.
Top-Hatch Access System: A heavy-duty, tightly sealed pneumatic roof opens smoothly to allow crane access and closes securely to maintain negative pressure and prevent overspray contamination.
Optimized Airflow for Low Clearances: We redesigned the exhaust and intake plenums to fit within the restricted site height while ensuring optimal cross-draft ventilation, protecting both the workers and the coating quality.
Heavy-Duty Flooring: Engineered to withstand the extreme static weight of industrial transformers without deflection during the coating and curing process.
