Nickel Alloy X-750 | UNS N07750 | 2.4669 | Inconel X-750

Shaanxi Shangyou Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. supplies Nickel Alloy X-750, also known as Inconel X-750, identified as UNS N07750 and Werkstoff 2.4669, in plate, sheet, strip, round bar, rod, wire, and forging forms. Our Alloy X-750 products can be supplied according to ASTM B637 / ASME SB-637 for bar, rod and forgings; AMS 5542 and AMS 5598 for sheet, strip and plate; and AMS 5698 / AMS 5699 for wire products .

Nickel Alloy X-750 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy, similar to Alloy 600 but made age-hardenable through the addition of aluminum (0.40-1.00%) and titanium (2.25-2.75%) . The alloy is strengthened by precipitation of γ' phase Ni3(Al,Ti) within the austenitic matrix following controlled thermal processing . It offers high tensile and creep-rupture strength up to approximately 704°C (1,300°F), oxidation resistance to 982°C (1,800°F), and excellent relaxation resistance, making it a preferred material for high-temperature spring and fastener applications . The alloy also maintains excellent properties at cryogenic temperatures and resists chloride stress-corrosion cracking .

Actual properties depend on product form, dimensions, heat-treatment cycle, and the specified standard.

Heat Treatment Conditions

Alloy X-750 derives its high strength from precipitation hardening. Several heat treatment options are available depending on service temperature requirements:

AMS 5667 (Equalizing + Precipitation)

  • Equalizing: 1,625°F (885°C) for 24 hours, air cool
  • Precipitation: 1,300°F (704°C) for 20 hours, air cool
  • Provides high strength and notch rupture ductility for service up to 1,100°F (593°C)

AMS 5668 (Triple Heat Treatment)

  • Solution treatment: 2,100°F (1,149°C), air cool
  • Stabilization: 1,550°F (843°C) for 24 hours, air cool
  • Precipitation: 1,300°F (704°C) for 20 hours, air cool
  • Provides maximum creep, relaxation and rupture strength above 1,100°F (593°C)

AMS 5670 / AMS 5671 (Solution + Furnace Cool Precipitation)

  • Solution treatment: 1,800°F (982°C), air cool
  • Precipitation: 1,350°F (732°C) for 8 hours, furnace cool to 1,150°F (621°C), hold total 18 hours, air cool
  • Provides increased tensile properties with reduced heat treatment time, suitable for service up to 1,100°F (593°C)
Corrosion Resistance and Selection Limits

Alloy X-750 provides excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance up to high temperatures .

Key Corrosion Characteristics:

  • Good oxidation resistance up to approximately 982°C (1,800°F)
  • Excellent resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking
  • Good resistance to many oxidizing environments
  • Corrosion resistance similar to Alloy 600 in many media
  • Resists carburization and high-temperature corrosion
  • Excellent relaxation resistance suitable for high-temperature spring applications

Selection Considerations:

  • For applications requiring maximum creep-rupture strength above 704°C, consider Alloy 718 or R-41
  • While the alloy is oxidation-resistant to 982°C, strength decreases significantly above 704°C
  • Precipitation hardening effects diminish with increasing temperature above 704°C
  • Final selection must consider the specific medium, temperature, and exposure conditions
Typical Applications
  • Aerospace: Gas turbine rotor blades, wheels, bolts, structural members; jet engine afterburners; airframe structures
  • Rocket Engines: Thrust chambers and hot-air ducting systems
  • High-Temperature Springs: Springs, bolts, fasteners (excellent relaxation resistance up to 540-650°C)
  • Nuclear: Reactor core components, pressure vessels
  • Industrial: Heat-treating fixtures, forming tools, extrusion dies, test machine grips
  • Oil and Gas: Downhole tools, valves
