ASTM A312 is the standard specification for seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel pipe, covering sizes from NPS 1/8 to NPS 48. TP316L is the low-carbon variant of TP316, with maximum carbon content of 0.035% compared to TP316's 0.08% . Combined with the 2.0-3.0% molybdenum addition, the low carbon content prevents chromium carbide precipitation (sensitization) in the heat-affected zone during welding while delivering superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chloride-containing environments .
