Q1: Is C11000 suitable for welding?
A: C11000 can be welded using TIG or MIG with inert gas shielding, but porosity may occur due to oxygen content. For critical welded joints, consider oxygen-free copper (C10100/C10200).
Q2: Can this copper rod be used in hydrogen-rich environments?
A: No. The oxygen in ETP copper reacts with hydrogen at elevated temperatures (>200°C), causing steam formation and internal cracking (hydrogen embrittlement). Use deoxidized or oxygen-free copper instead.
Q3: What’s the difference between C11000 and C10100?
A: C11000 contains 200–400 ppm oxygen for improved castability and conductivity; C10100 is oxygen-free (<0.001% O), making it safer for high-temperature reducing atmospheres.
Q4: How is conductivity verified?
A: We use eddy current testing per ASTM E1004 to non-destructively confirm ≥100% IACS conductivity on every production batch.
