As a new generation of flexible peak shaving core equipment, the supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO₂) turbine compressor generator set utilizes supercritical carbon dioxide (7.38 MPa, above 31.1°C) as the closed Brayton cycle working fluid. This innovative approach delivers exceptional performance:
The core technology incorporates magnetic levitation high-speed direct drive compressors and efficient reheaters, enabling oil-free, low-vibration, and high-reliability operation. The exhaust cleanliness reaches ISO 8573-1 Class 0 standards, requires no cooling water, and is suitable for high-humidity environments.
In December 2025, the world's first commercial unit, "Super Carbon-1," commenced operation at Shougang Shuicheng Iron and Steel in Liupanshui, Guizhou. By May 2026, the second unit was connected to the grid, establishing a stable installed capacity of 30MW. The system efficiently converts steel sintering waste heat (400-600°C) into electrical energy, increasing power generation efficiency by more than 85% compared to traditional steam systems. The annual additional electricity generation exceeds 70 million kWh, marking China's pioneering leap from laboratory to industrial commercial application of sCO₂ technology worldwide.
Advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation addresses the challenging physical properties of supercritical CO₂ near the critical point where properties fluctuate violently.
