Grinding pellets, also known as high manganese steel pellets, are forged products made from high-manganese steel wire. They undergo a specific manufacturing process where the steel wire is cut into cylinders at high speed and then rounded with lead angles. These pellets are characterized by their absence of voids, cracks, and breakage.
Throughout their service life cycle, the shape of grinding pellets gradually reduces in size, with particles as small as 3/10 of the original size. At the end of their life cycle, they are removed from the shot blasting machine using a dust extraction system or separation equipment.
Grinding shot, as a new type of steel wire shot, involves cutting the steel wire into cylinders of uniform length and diameter. These cylinders are then ground to remove edges and corners, transforming them into spherical ball bodies. This unique manufacturing technique combines the advantages of both cast steel shot and steel wire cut shot.
Grinding pellets offer several advantages. They provide even polishing without causing damage to the workpiece. Additionally, they exhibit high wear resistance and are not easily prone to breakage. These properties contribute to their long service life even after repeated polishing.
Currently, grinding steel shot is the leading metal abrasive material used for finishing automobile and motorcycle accessories. Its superior characteristics make it the preferred choice in achieving high-quality surface finishes in these industries.
a. Low carbon steel shot exhibits a bainite structure, which is a result of isothermal transformation. This structure provides excellent impact resistance and ensures stable performance during usage.
b. The production of low carbon steel shot involves the use of high-quality, low-carbon, low-residue, low-phosphorus, and sulfur new scrap steel. Heat treatment is intentionally omitted to maintain the hardness of the steel shot.
c. Due to its unique organizational structure, low carbon steel shot possesses high toughness and is less prone to breakage. It can withstand approximately 3,600 cycles of repetitive usage, resulting in a consumption reduction of over 20% compared to high-quality, high carbon steel shot.
d. The spherical shape of low carbon steel shot maintains smooth contact with equipment and steel plates. In contrast, high carbon steel shots tend to break and produce angular fragments, leading to increased wear on shot blasting heads and linings. This reduces shot blasting machine efficiency and necessitates longer maintenance and downtime. The maintenance costs associated with low carbon steel shot-induced equipment wear are at least 15% lower than those caused by high carbon steel shot.
e. As low carbon steel shot gradually wears away layer by layer, it generates significantly less dust compared to other materials. This results in a minimum 20% reduction in dust emissions, contributing to improved air quality and a cleaner working environment.
