Packaging & Quality AssuranceExtra-wide coils require specialized handling and packaging due to their dimensions and weight. Each coil is wrapped with multiple layers of VCI corrosion-inhibiting paper, protected with circumferential edge guards made from hardened fiberboard, secured with high-tension steel strapping (minimum 4 circumferential and 4 radial straps), and mounted on reinforced fumigated wooden pallets or steel coil cradles rated for the coil weight. Quality assurance includes full-length continuous thickness gauging with X-ray or isotope-based measurement, tensile testing at both coil ends per ASTM A370, hardness verification per ASTM E18, visual surface inspection under stroboscopic lighting, and coating weight measurement via coulometric analysis. Statistical process control data is maintained for every production campaign with CpK analysis performed on all critical characteristics. Mill test certificates including chemical composition, mechanical properties, coating weights, and dimensional data are provided with each shipment.
