Bright Annealing (BA) Process Details:
Atmosphere: The furnace uses pure Hydrogen (H₂), Argon, or a vacuum. Hydrogen acts as a reducing agent.
Temperature: Annealing occurs around 1900°F to 2050°F (1040°C to 1120°C) .
Cooling: Rapid cooling (gas quenching) in the protected atmosphere to prevent carbide precipitation.
Surface Finish: The resulting BA finish typically has a surface roughness (Ra) of 0.2 µm to 0.6 µm (8 to 25 micro-inches). This is smoother than standard Pickled finishes.
