ASME SA210 Gr. C Serrated Fin Tube with Carbon Steel Fin is a robust heat exchanger component designed for medium to high-pressure systems. Made from ASME SA210 Grade C seamless carbon steel, it offers superior tensile and yield strength, making it ideal for demanding applications like boilers and heat exchangers.
The tube features carbon steel serrated fins, which enhance heat transfer by increasing air-side turbulence and reducing particulate bridging. The serrated fin design also helps minimize thermal stress, ensuring long-term reliability. Fins are securely attached using mechanical bonding processes to withstand operational temperatures up to 200-220°C (392-428°F).
This finned tube is optimized for use in air-cooled heat exchangers (ACHEs), delivering both efficient thermal performance and high pressure containment for industrial environments.

1. ASME SA210 Gr. C vs. Gr. A1:
● Strength & Pressure Rating: Gr. C offers significantly higher yield and tensile strength due to its allowed higher carbon (up to 0.35%) and manganese content. This translates to a higher allowable working pressure for the same wall thickness, making it suitable for more demanding mechanical service.
● Weldability & Fabrication: The higher carbon content of Gr. C requires more careful welding procedures (pre-heat and post-weld control) to avoid cracking compared to the more weldable Gr. A1.
● Selection Basis: Gr. A1 is chosen for standard pressure/temperature duties where cost is a driver. Gr. C is specified when the design requires the extra strength margin provided by its enhanced mechanical properties, often in larger or more critical ACHE bundles.
● High-Pressure Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers (ACHEs): For cooling process fluids in refineries, gas processing, and power plants where system operating pressure is substantial.
● Compressor Stations: Intercoolers and aftercoolers for large industrial and pipeline compressors.
● Power Plant Auxiliary Cooling Systems: For high-pressure closed cooling water loops and other auxiliary systems.
● Industrial Process Cooling Units: Where the process side pressure necessitates a higher-strength base tube material.
● Engine and Turbine Support Systems: Charge air coolers and jacket water coolers in high-output stationary engines.
