● HighTemperature Performance:
TP304H is optimized for sustained high temperature operation with better creep strength and oxidation resistance.
TP304 is suitable for general corrosion resistance but may lose strength faster at temperatures above 500°C.
● Chemical Composition:
TP304H has controlled carbon content (0.04–0.10%) for high temperature stability;
TP304 has lower carbon (≤0.08%) for general purpose use. Both contain Cr (~18–20%) and Ni (~8–11%).
● Applications:
TP304H: Boiler tubes, superheaters, heat exchangers in power plants, refinery heaters, high temperature process piping.
TP304: General corrosion resistant piping, food processing equipment, architectural tubing, low temperature heat exchangers.
● Cost & Availability:
TP304H is typically more expensive due to its specialized high temperature properties and controlled manufacturing;
TP304 is widely available and more economical for non high temperature applications.
● Power Generation: Superheater and reheater tubes in utility boilers, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) systems for gas turbines.
● Petrochemical & Refining: High-temperature hydroprocessing reactors, reformer unit heat exchangers, and crude oil distillation column reboilers.
● Metallurgical Industry: Waste heat recovery systems for blast furnaces, heat exchange tubes in hot rolling mill furnaces.
● Industrial Boilers & Heaters: Convection bank tubes in industrial boilers, high-temperature thermal oil heaters.
