The ASME A106 Gr.B carbon steel studded fin tube is the most widely used finned tube solution for the convection section of fired heaters in oil refineries and petrochemical plants. Manufactured from seamless carbon steel base tube per ASME SA106 Grade B with resistance welded studs, it effectively extends the heat transfer surface in high-temperature flue gas service while resisting erosion and coking, ensuring long-term reliable performance in refinery fired heater convection banks. In crude distillation heaters, coker heaters and hydroprocessing charge heaters, the studded fin tube significantly improves thermal efficiency and reduces fuel consumption, while its open stud geometry allows soot blowers to clean the surface effectively during operation, minimizing fouling-related shutdowns and maintenance costs.
The base tube of this studded fin tube is manufactured from ASME SA106 Grade B seamless carbon steel, a material specifically qualified for high-temperature pressure service and widely specified for convection section tubing in refinery fired heaters. Its balanced chemical composition and controlled mechanical properties ensure reliable performance under continuous flue gas exposure, thermal cycling and soot blowing conditions.
