Serrated fin tubes are specialized heat transfer components widely used in HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generators) to enhance thermal efficiency, particularly in convection section-Economizer, where gas-side heat transfer is the controlling factor. The serrations—small, segmented notches cut into the fin edge—disrupt the boundary layer of the flue gas, creating turbulence that increases the convective heat transfer coefficient by roughly 10%–25% compared to solid fins.
Serrated Fin Tube + HRSG Application :
A. Economizers: High performance serrated fin tubes are frequently used to maximize energy recovery from the flue gas.
B. Convection Section: Ideal for areas requiring high thermal performance due to higher gas velocities. In Fired Heater or Fired Furnace , Convection are tube coil are top important .
C. Clean Gas Applications: Serrated fins are generally recommended for clean applications, such as natural gas firing, where ash accumulation is minimal.
