What is Structural Features of extruded fin tube?

 

  • Integral Formation of Fins and Base Tube:The fins and base tube of extruded fin tubes are integrally formed through the extrusion process. There are no gaps between the fins and the base tube, resulting in a tight bond, low thermal resistance, and high heat transfer efficiency.
  • Diverse Fin Shapes: The shape of the fins can be designed according to different heat exchange requirements. Common shapes include flat, corrugated, and serrated. Different fin shapes affect the flow state of the fluid and the heat transfer performance. For example, corrugated fins can increase fluid turbulence and enhance heat transfer effects.
  • Wide Range of Material Selection: The base tube is usually made of metal materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper, while the fins are often made of materials with good thermal conductivity, such as aluminum or copper. For some special working conditions, bimetallic extruded fin tubes can be used, such as steel-aluminum and steel-copper combinations, to meet different corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity requirements.
 
What is the manufacturing process of this type of finned tube?

  • Extrusion Molding Process: The metal material is heated to a certain temperature, placed into an extrusion mold, and pressure is applied by an extrusion machine. The metal material flows in the mold and fills the cavities of the fins and base tube, thus forming the fin tube. The extrusion molding process can achieve high-precision manufacturing of fins, with high dimensional accuracy of fin thickness, height, and spacing, which is conducive to improving heat transfer performance.​​​​

 

  • Subsequent Treatment: After extrusion molding, the fin tubes may need some subsequent treatments, such as heat treatment and surface treatment. Heat treatment can eliminate internal stresses from the extrusion process and improve the mechanical properties of the material; surface treatment can improve the surface quality of the fins and enhance their corrosion resistance and wear resistance.
