201 Stainless steel has the characteristics of polishing, no bubbles, no pinholes, etc., is the production of a variety of watchcase, watchband cover quality material. Mainly used for decorative pipe, industrial pipe, some shallow tensile products.201 stainless steel plate has the ability to resist general corrosion similar to the unstable nickel-chromium alloy 304. Prolonged heating of the 201 stainless steel plate in the temperature range of the degree of chromium carbide may affect alloy 321 stainless steel plate and 347 in harsh corrosive media. 201 stainless steel plate is mainly used for high temperature applications, high temperature applications require material to have strong resistance to sensitization, in order to prevent intergranular corrosion at lower temperatures.
In the annealed condition, 201 Stainless steel is non-magnetic, but can become magnetic when cold worked. It demonstrates excellent toughness at lower temperatures as its strength increases. It can be fabricated by bench, roll forming, and bending. Though this stainless steel is weldable, it shows the poorest quality welds with greater risk for intergranular corrosion. It is not hardenable by heat treatment.
