S31803 stainless steel, also known as 2205 stainless steel, has a dual-phase microstructure consisting of roughly equal parts of austenite and ferrite phases. It is a popular grade of duplex stainless steel, the unique structure contributes to its excellent combination of mechanical strength and corrosion resistance properties. It can be easily welded using common welding techniques and does not require pre- or post-weld heat treatment in most cases.
