ASTM A269 TP304L grade covers low carbon 304L stainless steel pipe of nominal wall thickness. The ASTM A269 TP304L pipe is designed with an austenitic structure and is resistant to general corrosion due to its high embedded nickel and chromium content. General purpose grade ASTM A269 TP304L stainless steel pipe works well in both low and high temperature applications. The robust tube exhibits enhanced strength and resists attack from a range of reducing agents in stress-induced settings.
The ASTM A269 TP304L standard grade covers modules in both seamless and welded configurations. ASME SA269 Grade 304L Seamless Pipe is designed by passing hot billets through extruded metal to shape them to the correct size. This gives the tube superior strength and excellent load-carrying capacity compared to its welded counterparts. To improve the quality of the tubes, they are processed through a cold rolling procedure. SA269 Tp304L cold drawn seamless tube runs on molds at room temperature, giving the tube excellent strength and tolerance in difficult applications. The cold drawing process also helps to improve the surface area and overall properties of the tube. Contrary to seamless grades, the weld seam of A269 Type 304L welded pipe reduces its pressure bearing capacity. However, these tubes are less expensive than seamless tubes and are available in a variety of sizes. ASME SA269 316L welded pipe is inspected before modules are deemed suitable for high pressure and high temperature applications. These pipes are durable and require good maintenance.
