ASTM A270 covers the grades of seamless, welded and heavily cold worked austenitic and ferritic/austenitic stainless steel sanitary pipes. Seamless pipes are manufactured using a process that does not involve welding at any stage. Welded pipes are manufactured using an automated welding process with no filler metal added. Heavy-duty cold-worked pipe is cold-worked to a reduction of not less than 35% in wall thickness and weld thickness prior to final annealing.
All materials are supplied in heat treated condition. Each heat undergoes chemical analysis, and each pipe is subjected to mechanical tests including reverse flattening tests, hydrostatic tests, or non-destructive electrical tests.
Available surface finishes include: Milled Finish, Mechanically Polished Surface Finish, 80 Finish, 120 Finish, 180 Finish, 240 Finish, Electropolished Finish, and Max Rough Average Surface Finish. Only the inner surface can be polished longitudinally, while the inner surface, outer surface or both can be polished circumferentially.
ASTM A270 A270M Sanitary Tubing is ideal for dairy, food and beverage industries where the highest purity and cleanliness is required. It is certified to ASTM A270, 3A standards and most user specifications.
We stock all pipe sizes in 20' standard lengths, from 1/2" (12.7mm) to 8" (203.2mm) OD. Custom lengths and sizes are available upon request. ASTM A270 A270M ASME SA270 grades TP304L and TP316L are available from stock, with other grades available upon request.
