ASTM A312 TP316L Stainless Steel Seamless Pipes Heavily Cold Worked
ASTM A312 TP316L is a specification for tubular products. Yuhong is a leading supplier of various ASTM A312 TP316L pipe sizes. These seamless pipes offer exceptional resistance to chloride corrosion, making 316L stainless steel pipes resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion even in chloride-rich environments. Our stainless steel pipe 316L seamless products are ideal for marine applications, seawater purification systems, and wastewater management applications.
Pipes are available in different schedules to accommodate various diameters and wall thicknesses. Stainless Steel Tube 316L Schedule 40 is designed for medium pressure ranges, while Stainless Steel Tube 316L Schedule 10S has relatively smaller wall thickness. Our 316L seamless pipe Sch 40 pipe is among the most commonly used in the oil and gas industry.
Material Properties
Grade 316 is the standard molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel, second in importance only to 304. The addition of molybdenum provides superior overall corrosion resistance compared to 304, particularly higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.
This grade offers excellent forming and welding characteristics, making it easily formable into various parts for industrial, construction, and transportation applications. Grade 316 also features excellent welding characteristics, with post-weld annealing not required for thin sections.
Grade 316L, the low carbon version of 316, is not susceptible to sensitization (grain boundary carbide precipitation), making it ideal for heavy-duty welded components (approximately 6mm and thicker). The austenitic structure provides excellent toughness, even at low temperatures.
This steel is preferred for marine environments due to its superior pitting corrosion resistance compared to other grades. Its negligible magnetic response makes it suitable for applications requiring non-magnetic metals.
