Hardness Requirements for Grade TP405 (UNS S40500)
As a 12% chromium ferritic stainless steel, TP405 offers good corrosion resistance at a significantly lower material cost than austenitic grades (e.g., 304). Its low carbon content and ferritic structure ensure easy welding and formability, making it an economical choice that balances performance and budget, ideal for components requiring subsequent fabrication.
Good Corrosion & Oxidation Resistance
Provides superior overall resistance to corrosion and oxidation compared to carbon steel, withstanding atmospheric exposure, steam, water, and many weak corrosive media.
