ASTM A268/A268M TP430 designates seamless tubes manufactured from ferritic stainless steel, specifically Grade UNS S43000 / EN 1.4016, in accordance with the standard specification "Standard Specification for Seamless and Welded Ferritic and Martensitic Stainless Steel Tubing for General Service".
As a chromium-based ferritic stainless steel, TP430's primary alloying element is Chromium (typically 16.00-18.00%), which forms a passive surface oxide layer, providing its characteristic corrosion resistance. It contains very low nickel, making it a cost-effective alternative to austenitic grades like 304. The seamless manufacturing process involves extruding or piercing a solid billet, resulting in a homogeneous cross-section without a longitudinal weld seam. This eliminates a potential point of failure, granting superior pressure containment, uniform mechanical properties in all directions, and enhanced reliability for demanding applications.Which is widely used in applications requiring a combination of corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and pressure integrity.

2. Key Adventages
Good General Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion, oxidation, and many organic and nitric acid media.
Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) Resistance: Superior to common austenitic stainless steels (e.g., 304, 316) in chloride-bearing environments.
Moderate High-Temperature Strength: Suitable for service at elevated temperatures, offering good oxidation resistance up to approximately 760°C (1400°F).
Magnetic Properties: Being ferritic, it is magnetic.
Limited Formability and Toughness: Compared to austenitic grades, it has lower ductility and impact toughness, particularly at sub-zero temperatures.
