Excellent in Seawater and Marine Environments: It has outstanding resistance to saltwater and seawater-induced corrosion, including pitting and crevice corrosion.
Resistance to Acid and Alkaline Solutions: It performs well in a wide range of conditions, particularly against:
Hydrofluoric Acid: Monel 400 is one of the few metals that can handle hydrofluoric acid, especially in the absence of air.
Sulfuric and Hydrochloric Acids: It offers good resistance, especially under reducing conditions.
Alkalis: It is highly resistant to alkaline solutions, including strong caustic soda (sodium hydroxide).
Neutral Salt Solutions: It resists corrosion from most neutral salts.
