It is specifically designed to match the strength of API 5L X42 grade pipe, ensuring that the flange is not weaker than the pipe itself — a critical safety requirement in high-pressure transmission lines.
A694 F42 is not a low-temperature material. It is intended for normal to elevated temperature service. If your application involves low temperatures (below -20°F / -29°C), you should consider ASTM A350 LF2 or other low-temperature carbon steel materials instead.
