ASTM A270 TP304 Sanitary Stainless Steel Seamless Tube for Food Pharmaceuticals
ASTM A270 is a specification specifically designed for sanitary applications, applicable to seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel tube. Unlike industrial piping standards such as ASTM A312, it emphasizes cleanliness, corrosion resistance, and ease of cleaning. It is specifically designed for cleanliness-critical industries such as food, pharmaceutical, and dairy. TP304 is a classic 18-8 austenitic stainless steel (chromium 18-20%, nickel 8-10.5%) that is molybdenum-free. Its low carbon content (≤ 0.08%) provides good corrosion resistance and formability.

ASTM A270 sanitary stainless steel seamless tubes have strong corrosion resistance and can maintain good stability in general oxidizing acids (such as nitric acid), organic acids, and alkaline media. However, their resistance to pitting corrosion in chloride environments is weaker than TP316 (because they do not contain molybdenum), and long-term contact with chlorine containing media should be avoided.
In terms of hygiene performance, ASTM A270 sanitary stainless steel seamless tubes need to have smooth inner walls without dead corners during production, comply with 3-A Sanitary Standards, FDA, and EHEDG certification requirements, and have easy cleaning and high temperature steam sterilization resistance (applicable to CIP/SIP systems).
