This series demonstrates the advantage of stable internal fixation using a supracondylar plate and lag screw over other type of fixation . The technique is readily mastered and analogous to use of the hip compression screw. The results suggested that supracondylar plate and lag screw fixation for supracondylar-intercondylar fractures of the distal femur is advantageous because the technique is simple the lag screw compresses the condyle, preventing the condyle from separating to achieve stability. This rigid and stable internal fixation permits early knee joint exercise.
