Why Only the Rubber Portion Can Be Replaced
  1. Modular Structural Design
    Separate Rubber and Metal Components: Air springs typically consist of natural rubber (the flexible portion) and metal end caps (the rigid portion). Rubber is a vulnerable component, enduring long-term inflation and deflation cycles, flexing, and aging, while metal components have a longer lifespan. This separate design allows for separate rubber replacement.

    Removable Connection: The rubber is secured to the metal end caps via bolts, clamps, or vulcanized adhesive. If the connection structure is intact (e.g., removable bolts and the vulcanized layer is intact), simply replacing the rubber can restore sealing and elasticity.
  2. Economical and Maintenance Efficiency
    Cost Savings: Metal components (such as end caps) are expensive to manufacture, and replacing them en masse is a waste of resources. Replacing the rubber alone reduces maintenance costs.

    Quick Repair: Removing the old rubber and installing a new one is faster than replacing the entire assembly, reducing equipment downtime.
  3. Technical Feasibility
    Standardized Production: Industrial rubber typically has uniform specifications (e.g., diameter, mounting interface), ensuring that the new rubber fits the existing metal component.

    Independent Functional Testing: After replacement, a pressure test can be performed to verify the seal without adjusting the entire system.
  4. Application Scenario Requirements
    Differences in Operating Conditions: Rubber may fail due to UV rays, ozone, or mechanical wear, while metal components are less susceptible to damage due to corrosion or fatigue.

    Customized Repair: In some scenarios, it is necessary to retain specific metal structures and replace only the rubber to accommodate new load or height requirements.

  • Compatibility Check: The new rubber must match the original system's pressure rating and temperature range (e.g., weather resistance from -40°C to 70°C).
  • Installation Procedure: Improper installation may result in air leaks (e.g., uneven tightening of clamps). Manufacturer specifications must be followed.
  • Metal Component Condition: If the end cap is deformed or the piston is corroded, the entire component must be replaced.
