The power steering pump is the heart of your Nissan Pick-up's hydraulic steering system. It greatly reduces driver fatigue during off-road adventures and heavy-load hauling. Without a reliable pump, the weight of the vehicle combined with off-road tires and cargo makes steering extremely difficult, turning every drive into a battle with the wheel.
Consider replacing your steering pump if you experience any of the following symptoms: Whining or squealing noise when turning the steering wheel, especially at full lock. Stiff or heavy steering, particularly at low speeds or when the vehicle is loaded. Power steering fluid leaks under the vehicle or around the pump area. Steering wheel feels jerky or unresponsive, especially on uneven terrain. Low or contaminated power steering fluid (dark color or burnt smell). For TD27 / QD32 / TD25 Engines: The steering pump is driven by the V-belt. Ensure the belt is in good condition and properly tensioned before installing the new pump. Always flush and replace the power steering fluid when installing a new pump. After installation, bleed the steering system by turning the wheel left and right several times with the engine running to remove air bubbles. Check for fluid leaks around all hose connections after installation. Professional installation is recommended if you are not familiar with steering system repairs. After installation, check the belt tension to ensure proper pump operation and avoid belt squeal.
