Application scenarios of geocells
As a high-strength, flexible three-dimensional mesh structure material, geocells are widely used in many fields of civil engineering.
The following are its core application scenarios and specific cases:
Roadbed reinforcement and stability improvement
1. Half-filled and half-excavated roadbed
Applicable to terrain with steep natural slopes (such as slopes with a slope of ≥1:5). The uneven settlement problem at the junction of the new and old roadbed fills is solved through the lateral constraints of the cells, reducing differential deformation.
2. Soft soil foundation treatment
The cells are laid on the soft foundation with low bearing capacity and filled with gravel to form a stable cushion layer, which significantly improves the bearing capacity and deformation resistance of the foundation. Replacing traditional gravel replacement can reduce costs by more than 50%.
3. Desert and loose foundation
Directly laid on loose sand and filled with sand and gravel on site, quickly build a stable roadbed, avoid transportation problems in areas with material shortages, and meet the traffic needs of heavy vehicles.
4. Frozen soil area
Reduce the slurry and settlement caused by freeze-thaw cycles, maintain the overall stiffness of the roadbed, and extend the service life.
Construction process
1. Site preparation: clean the slope, trim the step platform, and ensure that it is connected to the existing road.
2. Laying and fixing: unfold the cell and fix the top and edge with U-shaped/L-shaped anchor rods to ensure that it fits the slope.
3. Filling and compacting: fill in sand and gravel or vegetation soil, and use a roller to compact in layers.
4. Ecological restoration: plant grass seeds or shrubs in the slope filling soil to form a green slope protection.
