The standard glass insulator manufacturing process begins with melting a precise mixture of silica sand and other raw materials at high temperatures. The molten glass is then pressed into molds to form the insulator shape before undergoing rapid cooling (tempering) to create compressive stress on the surface, vastly increasing its mechanical strength and causing it to shatter into harmless fragments if broken. After rigorous thermal and visual inspections to eliminate defects, the durable glass shells are assembled with metal caps and pins using high-strength cement, followed by final mechanical and electrical testing to ensure reliability before shipment.
