This molten glass is shaped in molds, then rapidly tempered to create compressive surface stress—significantly enhancing mechanical strength and guaranteeing harmless shattering upon breakage. Rigorous thermal shock tests and visual inspections eliminate defective units before assembly. Approved glass shells are permanently joined to metal caps and pins with high-strength cement. Final mechanical and electrical testing confirms complete reliability prior to packaging and distribution.
