Product Overview

A tube bundle comprises the complete tube-side assembly of a shell-and-tube heat exchanger: tubes, tube sheets, baffles, tie rods, and spacers. The bundle is removable (floating head or U-tube) or fixed (fixed tube sheet) depending on service requirements. Each bundle is engineered for specified thermal duty, pressure drop, and fouling resistance, with tube layout (triangular, square, or rotated square) selected to optimize film coefficients and cleaning accessibility.

What tube pitch should I specify for heavy fouling services?

For applications prone to scaling or particulate fouling, specify square pitch (90° or 45°) to enable mechanical cleaning. Triangular pitch (30°) maximizes tube count for a given shell diameter but restricts access.

How do I verify a replacement bundle will fit my existing shell?

Provide the original tube sheet layout drawing or measure: tube sheet diameter, tube count, tube OD and wall thickness, tube pitch, baffle spacing, bundle length (overall and tube-to-tube sheet), and inlet/outlet nozzle locations. Our engineering team conducts interference checks prior to fabrication.

What is the maximum U-bend radius?

Minimum bend radius is 1.5× tube OD for seamless carbon steel and stainless steel; 2.0× for copper alloys. Tighter radii risk excessive wall thinning (>12.5% nominal wall).

How are tube bundles tested for leak-free tube-to-tubesheet joints?

Hydrostatic test after rolling and/or welding confirms joint integrity. For critical services, helium leak test can be specified.
