Seawater Desalination Pretreatment
Ultrafiltration is just like setting up an efficient filter in front of a sophisticated machine (seawater desalination equipment), filtering out large particles and colloidal impurities in advance, reducing the risk of pollution and damage to subsequent equipment (such as reverse osmosis membranes). Because if these impurities enter the reverse osmosis system, it will lead to clogging of the reverse osmosis membrane and reduce its performance and service life.
Removing microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses in seawater can not only prevent the breeding and reproduction of microorganisms in the desalination equipment, but also avoid the impact of these microorganisms on the quality of desalinated water. Moreover, removing organic pollutants can reduce possible chemical reactions in the subsequent desalination process, such as organic pollution and scaling on the membrane surface, thereby improving the efficiency and water quality of seawater desalination.
The seawater after ultrafiltration pretreatment is more in line with the influent requirements of reverse osmosis membranes. This enables the reverse osmosis process to operate under lower pressure and more stable conditions, improving the water flux and salt rejection rate of reverse osmosis membranes. At the same time, ultrafiltration can flexibly adjust operating parameters according to the scale and requirements of seawater desalination projects, and closely cooperate with other processes to achieve efficient and stable operation of the entire seawater desalination system.
