Application Scope

 

 

  1. High-Pressure Manifolds: Ensuring secure connections in choke and kill manifolds.

  2. Hydraulic Fracturing: Handling high-velocity fracking fluids and proppants.

  3. Acidizing and Cementing: Resistance to corrosive chemicals and abrasive slurries during well stimulation.

  4. Drilling Mud Systems: Sealing suction and discharge lines on mud pumps.

  5. Flowline Connections: Connecting pipes for water, oil, and gas transfer in both onshore and offshore environments.

Material Comparison and Performance


The performance of a hammer union seal is largely determined by its elastomer compound. We offer several material options to suit different environmental conditions:

NBR (Nitrile Rubber)
Best for general purpose service including water, oil, and hydraulic fluids. It offers excellent abrasion resistance and is highly cost-effective for standard operations.
Temperature Range: -30 degrees Celsius to +100 degrees Celsius (-22 F to +212 F).

HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile)
Specially formulated for more demanding environments involving sour gas (H2S), crude oil, and higher temperatures. It provides superior mechanical strength and heat resistance compared to standard NBR.
Temperature Range: -40 degrees Celsius to +150 degrees Celsius (-40 F to +302 F).

FKM (Fluorocarbon)
The material of choice for high-temperature applications and exposure to aggressive chemicals, acids, and steam. It maintains its sealing properties where other elastomers fail.
Temperature Range: -20 degrees Celsius to +200 degrees Celsius (-4 F to +392 F).

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)
Typically used in specialized seals or as backup rings, PTFE offers near-universal chemical resistance and can withstand extreme temperature fluctuations.
Temperature Range: -200 degrees Celsius to +250 degrees Celsius.

 

Working Pressure and Technical Parameters


Our seals are designed to match the pressure ratings of standard industry figure numbers:
Figure 602: Rated for operating pressures up to 6,000 PSI.
Figure 1002: Rated for operating pressures up to 10,000 PSI.
Figure 1502: Rated for operating pressures up to 15,000 PSI.
Figure 2202: Rated for operating pressures up to 20,000 PSI in specialized H2S environments.

Available Sizes: 1 inch, 2 inch, 3 inch, 4 inch.
Hardness: 80 to 90 Shore A, providing the necessary rigidity to resist extrusion.
Reinforcement: High-pressure variants (especially Fig 1502) are available with brass or stainless steel anti-extrusion rings for enhanced durability.
