Powder Coated C Channel Strut

Our powder coated C channel is roll formed from Q235 steel, pretreated and then finished with a thermosetting polyester powder coat cured at 200 C. The main profiles are 41x41mm and 41x21mm, supplied plain or slotted, in lengths from 1m to 6m. Because the coating is applied as a dry powder and baked into a continuous film, the channel arrives on site finished, colour matched and ready to install, with no painting trade on the critical path.

Why Powder Coating Is the Selling Point

1. Thick, Uniform Film on Every Face

A single powder pass builds 60-90 micron on the outer faces, the inner return and the folded lip at the same time. Wet paint runs thin on edges and sharp corners; powder wraps them, which is exactly where a strut channel starts to rust first.

2. Strong Adhesion, Minimal Flaking When Cut or Punched

Parts are degreased, rinsed and phosphated before coating, then cured at 200 C for a full cross link. Cross cut adhesion according to ISO 2409 reaches class 0-1, so site cutting and normal bolt clamping do not lift the film edge.

3. Multiple RAL Colors, Custom Match Accepted

Stock colors cover the construction palette: RAL 7016 anthracite, RAL 9005 black, RAL 7035 light grey, RAL 9010 white, RAL 5010 blue, RAL 3000 red and RAL 6018 green. Any other RAL or Pantone reference can be matched on a minimum run, so the strut disappears into the facade or matches the client corporate colour.

4. Weather and UV Resistance

Polyester powder with a UV stabiliser keeps gloss and colour outdoors. Salt spray testing reaches 500-1000 hours depending on film thickness and pretreatment, which is well above the service life expected of a painted finish.

5. Chemical and Abrasion Resistance

The cured film resists normal detergents, oils and dilute acids, and a 2H pencil hardness rating means trolley knocks and cable pulling do not cut through to bare steel.

6. Lower Fire and Environmental Load

Powder is applied without solvent, so the coating line releases minimal VOC. Compared with a solvent based wet paint, this supports indoor air quality targets and green building documentation.

7. One Supplier, Finished Goods

Roll forming, punching, pretreating and coating happen in one plant, so colour, film thickness and hole pattern are controlled as a single batch and the buyer receives an install ready product instead of raw channel plus a painting subcontract.

FAQ

Q: Can I choose a colour not in your stock list?
A: Yes. Send the RAL or Pantone code, or a physical sample, and we will match it on a minimum production run.

Q: Will the coating chip during shipping?
A: Bundles are film interleaved and corner protected. Adhesion class 0-1 keeps the film intact through normal handling, and site touch up paint in the same RAL is supplied on request.

Q: Can you combine several colours in one order?
A: Yes. Different colours can be bundled separately within the same container as long as each colour reaches the minimum run.

Q: Which profile should I take, 41x41 or 41x21?
A: 41x41 for main load bearing runs and single sided brackets, 41x21 for light tray and conduit support where space is tight.
