At the core of the MagBoost lies the oil-free magnetic bearing centrifugal compressor. Active magnetic bearings levitate the rotating shaft with no physical contact, eliminating mechanical friction, vibration, and the entire oil lubrication system. A permanent-magnet synchronous motor drives a back-to-back two-stage impeller configuration that boosts full-load efficiency by 4% and part-load efficiency by 7% compared to traditional single-stage magnetic bearing designs.
The capacity range spans 230 to 3,000 RT on R134a, with factory compatibility for low-GWP alternatives. The falling-film evaporator requires less refrigerant charge than traditional flooded designs, supporting LEED credit attainment. Minimum 10% load operation and stable performance at 12°C condenser water inlet extend free-cooling hours by 500-1,000 hours annually in moderate climates.
