Q: What is the difference between a curtain coater and a roller coater?
A: Curtain coaters apply coating in a non-contact, free-falling curtain, achieving a thicker, mirror-like film in one pass with no mechanical stress on the substrate. Roller coaters use contact rollers and are better suited for thinner coatings.
Q: Can the curtain coater apply UV coatings?
A: Yes. The system is compatible with UV, PU, NC, and water-based coatings. For UV curing, we integrate a UV tunnel matched to your coating chemistry and line speed.
Q: How is coating thickness controlled?
A: By adjusting pump flow rate, conveyor speed, and the gap between the curtain head and substrate. The thinnest wet layer can reach 0.02 mm with precision head adjustment.
