A PVD or Physical Vapor Deposition coating machine is a sophisticated industrial device used to apply thin films of material onto a substrate surface. This bombardment knocks atoms off the target, which then deposit onto the substrate.
PVD coatings are renowned for enhancing surface properties. They significantly improve hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. Common applications include depositing decorative and protective layers on watches, jewelry, and consumer electronics. In the tooling industry, PVD coatings like titanium nitride drastically extend the lifespan of cutting tools. Advanced applications involve optical coatings for lenses and functional layers for semiconductors. The resulting films are extremely thin, dense, and exhibit excellent adhesion, making PVD a critical technology in modern manufacturing and high-performance engineering.
