The VCAR0007-0127-00A is a compact cylindrical voice-coil motor with an outer diameter of just 19.1 mm. Powered by a 12.8V DC power supply, it offers a stroke of 12.7 mm and a peak thrust of up to 7.1 N, making it one of the smallest direct-drive actuators in the SUPT MOTION product series.
Its cylindrical shape allows it to fit naturally into circular holes, sleeves, and cavities, simplifying mechanical integration in space-constrained products. Weighing only 14.8 grams, the moving coil accelerates rapidly and exerts minimal inertial forces on surrounding structures. A high-energy magnet assembly delivers powerful thrust within a compact design, while the non-contact design ensures quiet operation without cogging effects.
Simple current commands generate smooth, controllable thrust across the entire stroke range, making servo tuning simple and intuitive. The housing is precision-machined from aluminum and coated with a corrosion-resistant finish. This motor is designed for compact devices that require reliable, repeatable linear motion without the bulky structure of a geared motor.
Microdevices typically lack the space to accommodate rotary motors and transmission mechanisms. This voice coil actuator solves this problem by providing linear thrust directly within a 19.1-millimeter cylindrical housing.
Thanks to its direct-drive design, this voice coil motor has no gears prone to wear and requires no backlash compensation, resulting in a simple and reliable mechanism. Low moving mass and low inductance allow this voice coil motor to be driven by a small, low-cost driver circuit.
The voice coil motor can also withstand frequent reverse operation, which is common in dispensing and sorting mechanisms. This solution provides a compact, quiet, and maintenance-free precision linear motion solution for small devices.

This compact voice-coil linear actuator is suitable for micro-camera autofocus modules, haptic feedback devices, micro-valves, laboratory automation pipettes, compact grippers, optical zoom mechanisms, and portable medical devices.
The same voice-coil motor is also used in compact print heads, barcode scanning mechanisms, and micro-pump drives. It is also suitable for micro-damping and vibration systems with extremely stringent space and weight requirements.
Q: What makes the cylindrical design an advantage?
A: The cylindrical envelope matches round bores and cavities, so the motor can be mounted without wasting space. It also provides a balanced magnetic circuit that keeps force consistent in all mounting orientations.
Q: How long can this small motor run continuously?
A: Continuous force at 25°C is 2.3N. For duty cycles above this limit, we recommend adding a heatsink or using the motor intermittently. Thermal protection can be added on request.
