Misalignment or poor sealing can lead to air leaks and cooling failure. Before installation, inspect the intercooler for bent fins, housing cracks, and whether the air inlets/outlets match the original vehicle hoses. During installation, replace with OE-spec gaskets/seals to ensure airtightness, and fasten hose clamps to Volvo’s specified torque (typically 8–12 N·m). After installation, perform a pressure test to check for leaks and confirm that the cooling fan (if equipped) operates normally. For daily maintenance, regularly clean the intercooler’s surface fins with low-pressure water or compressed air (avoid high pressure to prevent fin damage) to remove bug residue, dust, and other debris. Inspect for hose aging and clamp tightness every 30,000 km. If the intercooler leaks, has severely damaged fins, or shows reduced heat dissipation efficiency, replace it immediately—otherwise, it will cause insufficient engine power, increased fuel consumption, and even high-temperature malfunctions.
