The side cover 39866792 is an essential replacement part for the 2005-2014 XC90 models, designed to restore the appearance and functionality of the vehicle's front seat area. This durable side cover replaces the original, often cracked or damaged decorative panel located beside the front seats. It houses the memory seat control panel, including seat adjustment buttons.
Designed for Replacement: Specifically crafted to replace cracked or broken side covers caused by design defects. Original parts are often made of molded plastic with rubber backing, which can break easily and pose safety risks by pinching the legs when getting in and out of the vehicle.
Durability: The passenger-side cover generally lasts longer than the driver-side cover, but both can suffer wear over time. Replacing a damaged side cover is a simple yet effective way to restore the interior's look and prevent injury.
Easy Installation: The installation process is relatively simple, though it requires some patience. The back of the panel features a flexible plastic ring that can be released with a simple pull. The front is secured by a Torx-15 screw attached to the seat frame.
Component Replacement: During the replacement process, you will need to cut and remove a few plastic tie wraps holding the control panel wires. After disconnecting the wiring and removing the control module from the old panel, the module can be installed in the new side cover. The process includes using a Torx-20 screwdriver to detach the module.
Position: This side cover is installed on the side of each front seat, specifically next to the seat, where it houses the memory seat controls and seat adjustment buttons.
