What is an LNB?

An LNB (Low Noise Block, also called LNC - Low Noise Converter) is used for communications satellite reception. The LNB is typically mounted on the satellite dish to collect and amplify the satellite signal, then downconvert it to a lower, more manageable IF frequency that can be carried over standard coaxial cabling to the receiver. LNBs are divided into C-Band, Ku-Band, and Ka-Band according to frequency.

What is a feedhorn?

The feedhorn is part of the LNB that works like a directional horn. It captures signals reflected from the dish and shields the LNB from extraneous radiation. These collected signals are then passed to the electronics within the LNB. Feedhorns are divided into orthogonal feed, offset feed, and elliptical feed types.

What is a Monoblock LNB?

This design consists of two independent LNBs in a single housing, allowing reception from two different satellites at slightly different orbital positions from a single dish. Switching between satellites is achieved via DiSEqC signals. Monoblock LNBs are available mostly for satellites with fixed 2°/3°/4.3° or 6° spacing and cover Ku band with single, twin, and quad outputs.

What is a one cable solution LNB?

This LNB can connect multiple set-top boxes (STBs) using one RG6 cable, providing an energy-saving, multi-user receiving mode. Sometimes called a stack LNB.

What does Unicable mean?

Unicable is a method for distributing satellite television to several receivers (currently up to 32 according to standards EN 50494 & EN 50607).

Unicable 1: SCR LNB that only achieves static working model.
Unicable 2: Achieves both static and dynamic working models. The LNB can be designed for Universal+Unicable input separately (e.g., 1 output Universal + 1 output Unicable, or 1 output Universal + 3 output Unicable).
