Product Specification
WL-AD3940 is a water-based hydroxylated acrylic dispersion. It is designed for formulating high-performance, waterborne two-component polyurethane (2K PU) coatings when cured with either solvent-based or water-based isocyanate crosslinkers. This resin is particularly recommended for topcoats on diverse metal substrates.
WL-AD3940 hydroxyl acrylic resin enables the production of cost-effective 2K PU systems when paired with solvent-based (oil-borne) curing agents. Moreover, it serves as a direct replacement for Bayhydrol A2470 in applications where cost constraints are significant.

The viscosity of the product is affected by the pH value, as the pH value increases, the viscosity and thixotropy will increase.
Curing Agent Preparation:
Dilute the solvent-based curing agent to 60-70% solids using a suitable co-solvent (e.g., BGA, PGDA, or a 1:2 ratio blend of PMA and DBE).
Mixing Procedure:
Combine the base resin (main agent) and the prepared curing agent.
Mix thoroughly using a pneumatic or electric stirrer to ensure complete homogenization.
Water Dilution Limit:
Water addition should be strictly limited: A maximum of 5% (recommended) to 10% of the base resin weight is permissible.
Exceeding this limit may significantly reduce the coating's final gloss.
Stability Note:
Due to inherent instability risks during the grinding process, which can negatively impact paint stability, incorporating resin directly into color paste grinding is not recommended.
