1) High removal rate of pollutants, strong resistance to sludge expansion, stable and reliable outlet water quality, and no suspended matter in the outlet water. 2)The membrane bioreactor realizes the separate control of the reactor sludge age SRT and hydraulic retention time HRT,so the design and operation are greatly simplified. 3)The mechanical interception of the membrane avoids the loss of microorganisms. The bioreactor can maintain a high sludge concentration,which can increase the volume load, reduce the sludge load, and has a strong impact resistance. 4)Since the SRT is very long, the bioreactor has played the role of "sludge nitrification tank”,thereby significantly reducing the sludge output,the excess sludge output is very low, and the sludge treatment cost is low.
1.Solid-liquid separation can be realized efficiently. The separation effect is far better than conventional sedimentation tank with good quality after treated water. Suspended matters and turbidity in after treatment water approach zero. This technology saves water to the largest extent. 2.The interception performance of the membrane totally intercepts microorganism in bioreactor, in this way, HRT (hydraulic retention time) and SRT (sludge age) is totally separated which leads to flexible control and operation. 3.MBR process omits the secondary setting tank and disinfection tank, reducing the occupied area. 4.The SRT is prolonged due to the blocking effect of the memberane, which creates microorganisms that are beneficial to slow proliferation. 5.Since the SRT is very long, the bioreactor has played the role of "sludge nitrification tank", thereby significantly reducing the sludge output, the excess sludge output is very low, and the sludge treatment cost is low. 6.Reactor is processing under low sludge loading, long sludge age. The surplus sludge is relatively low and the zero sludge discharge can be realized. 7.Membrance bioreactor is easy to integrate, easy to realize automatic control, and easy to operate and maintain.

MBR is a kind of new technology for waste water treatment by combining membrane separation technique with activated sludge method. It can be used for municipal sewage and industrial waste water treatment and substitute for secondary sedimentation tank in removing suspended particles, so as to increase nitrogen removal rate and organics degradation rate.
